City & Culture
Saratoga Springs is one of those special getaway spots where everything is just, well, pretty close to perfect. The city's lovely tree-lined streets and grand old Victorians, porch swings swaying and gardens brimming with colorful flora bring to mind a gentler era. World-class horse racing, renowned performing arts and natural springs spas, plus 13 golf courses, 10 museums, a historic battlefield, fabulous boutiques, antiques and restaurants mean there is something for everyone. Relax at the Lincoln Mineral Baths, window shop in town and then it's off to the races. Walk everywhere, it's that kind of place.
the racetrack
This famed 350-acre racetrack features thoroughbred horseracing during its six-week season from late July through early September. Though one of the sport's premier events, the races often take second place to people-watching.
DOWNTOWN SARATOGA
The diversity of menus and settings ensures that even the pickiest diner will find something to please their palate. In addition, the downtown nightlife scene is always hopping, whether you are looking for a friendly pub and a pint, some wine and some jazz, or a place to dance the night away.
SARATOGA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (SPAC)
Saratoga Performing Arts Center is located within the lush 2,400-acre Saratoga Spa State Park. The majority of the classical shows and concerts take place at a 5,200 seat amphitheater with a sloping lawn that holds an additional 20,000 people. The stage is home to New York City Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra performances in addition to shows by Live Nation. The amphitheater also hosts the popular “SPAC on Stage” series.
THE SARATOGA SPA STATE PARK
A 2,379-acre state park contains mineral springs, classical bath and spa houses, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course offers two beautiful golf courses; a championship 18-hole course and a challenging 9-hole course, complete with pro shop and restaurant.
